Udupi: Seven PWD officials along with engineers arrested for helping illegal sand mafia

Bhatkallys News Bureau Chikkamagaluru 01 March 2018: On account of facilitating illegal sand trade by misusing powers and issuing fake permits, Police have arrested Public Work Department(PWD) Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer along with five other employees of the department on Tuesday, February 27. Speaking to the media personnel, SP Annamalai disclosed that these officers were misusing their powers and till now four thousand Mineral Dispatch Permits were issued and misused in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. In connection to which various cases were filed in district police stations. The accused have been handed over to Udupi District police station and investigation on same is under process.
