Udupi: Over 50 BJP workers arrested for protesting against Tipu Jayanti

Udupi 10 Nov 2017: Over 50 BJP leaders on Friday were arrested for protesting against the government celebrating Tipu Jayanti on Nov 10. The Udupi district administration was celebrating the event at the Deputy Commissioner's office.
Heavy security arrangements were made for the Nov 10 while Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, had ordered implementation of Section 144 across the district from Nov 8 to Nov 11 to avoid any untoward incident during the Nov 10 event.
A huge number of BJP leaders and workers gathered near the DC office while raising slogans against the government for celebration the 18th Century ruler's birth anniversary. SP Patil who was personally monitoring the security arrangements then ordered the arrests of BJP leader, following which over 50 protesters were arrested.
Shreesha Nayak, Mattaru Hegde and Sandhya Ramesh were also among the 50 arrested protesters.
