Udupi: Over 30 country made bombs seized by police, three arrested

Zaorez Shabab Udupi/Hebri 23 Nov 2017: Hebri Police on Tuesday arrested three people after recovering over 30 country made live bombs from them. The arrested have been identified as Nagesh Nayak (35), a resident of Arkunje of Hebri, Gunakar Shetty (56) and Laxman Shetty aka Laxu Shetty (67) residents of Ardi near Albadi respectively. Working on tip-off, PSI of Hebri Police Station while on his routine patrol stopped Nagesh and searched his two-wheeler and found several hunting weapons along with 30 live country made bombs. He was then taken into custody and upon questioning he revealed that he was heading to the forest for hunting wild animals. The next day (22 Nov) police arrested Gunakar and Laxman who were reportedly the suppliers of the bombs and seized 33 live country made bombs from them. Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev M Patil, while holding a press conference regarding the arrests said a detailed inquiry and investigation will be ordered under the supervision of ASP Karkala Rishikesh Sonavane. He also congratulated the Hebri Police team for the arrests and also announced a cash reward for the team.
