The Smart Government Program at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has launched an Instant Messaging Service as a part of a new design of its MoI UAE App for smart phones. This aims to further promote effective communication with customers by answering their inquiries and receiving their suggestions, observations and complaints regarding the smart e-services. Providing this service through the Smart Government Program at the Ministry of Interior falls in line with the MoI’s commitment to implement the innovative smart government initiatives that provide futuristic solutions to overcome challengesك streamline the delivery of customers’ transactions and achieve their satisfaction. This service allows users to rearrange services according to their priorities, personal interests and preferences.
Lt. Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the MoI’s Smart Government Program said: “The instant messaging service provides special features for people with special needs. “Information displayed on the screen is rendered in synthesized speech output that describes the application’s content for visually impaired people. It also includes colour changing features to enable colour blind people to identify colours in order to facilitate reading.” He also noted that these features facilitate communication and interaction with the Smart Government Program at the MoI. The application content is available in English and Arabic. An email function is also available in order to receive customers’ messages in case the customer service employees were busy. Applicants or inquirers can forward their notes and communicate later with the employee in charge. According to statistics published by the MoI, the number of calls and inquiries received as of the first month after activating the instant messaging service has amounted to 15,050 texts from 27 countries in over two months. All inquiries have been answered according to the Smart Government standards, which helped customers to complete their transactions. The Smart Government Program of the MoI also created a special service to identify sponsored individuals and review their personal data. Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari called upon citizens and residents to register for the smart e-services in order to benefit from the leading features provided by the Ministry. He also explained that registering for the app requires the ID data and a mobile phone number that should be active at the time of registration.
