Bhatkal: 18 January,26 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Two youths were killed in a fatal road accident late on Saturday night on the Venkatapur stretch of the National Highway in Bhatkal, leaving the local community in shock.

Sources said the accident occurred around midnight when a car travelling from Shirali towards Bhatkal crashed into an electric pole along the roadside. The reasons behind the accident are yet to be confirmed. However, the presence of jelly stones scattered near the spot has raised questions about what may have led to the vehicle losing control.

Officials said several CCTV cameras are installed in the area where the accident took place, and footage from these cameras is expected to help investigators reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.

One of the victims, Bilal, aged 15, died on the spot. He was the son of Mohammed Ashraf Ruknuddin Shipai, a resident of Azad Nagar in Bhatkal, and was studying in Class 10. The car was driven by Ayan, 20, son of Abdul Salam Akrami. He suffered severe injuries and was rushed towards Mangaluru for specialised treatment but died on the way. Ayan was a degree student at a college in Mangaluru.
