Two years after IGP announced plans of cyber police station in Bhatkal, SP says 'no plans for now'

Bhatkal 25 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) On July 22, 2016, then IGP Western Range Arun Chakravarty in a press conference at Karwar SP office had announced that the department is considering of setting up cyber police station in Bhatkal.
Charavarthy had then added that the name of Bhatkal was cropping on terror related crimes and to keep a check on the cyber crime the department was considering setting up of cyber police station.
He had also warned that Police would take stern action on mischief mongers and those who commit organized crime.
However, fast forward to July 2018, the current Superintended of Police Vinayak Patil, who took over the charge in January 2017, expressed his unawareness of any such plans that was made before he took over the charge.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Patil added "I don't know about any such plan that was announced before I took over the charge, neither do I feel there is a need of setting up cyber police station in Bhatkal".
"We already have one in Karwar, and one cyber police station in every district, is how the government has sanctioned these stations" Patil said.
Recently a few cases pertaining to cyber police have been registered in Bhatkal, but none of them amounts to terror related charges or involve any anti-national elements, most of these cases were those of spreading fake messages and rumors on social media platforms.
