Two workers die after temporary lift collapses at construction site in Murdeshwar

Murdeshwar: 07 November,2025 (BHatkallys News Bureau)  Two construction workers were killed on Thursday evening when a temporary lift at a building site collapsed in Murdeshwar.

The deceased were identified as Prabhakar Muthappa Shetty, a resident of Basti in Murdeshwar, and Babanna Poojary from Byndoor taluk in Udupi district.

Preliminary reports said that construction work was underway for a four-storey building near Olga Mantapa. A temporary lift had been installed to move construction materials to the upper floors. However, the lift’s rope is believed to have snapped due to overloading, causing it to fall to the ground.

Both workers who were inside the lift suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Local police and fire department personnel rushed to the site for inspection and initiated further procedures.

The bodies were later taken to the Bhatkal Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
