Bhatkal: The town of Bhatkal has come under a spate of robberies as two houses were robbed by thieves on Sunday. Both incidents of theft followed a similar pattern with thieves breaking into lockers and stealing valuables from the house.
The first theft was reported at Hafiz Moulvi Mohammed Zakir Saheb's brother's house in Takiya Mohalla. In his house, thieves broke the cupboard and stole Rs 6,000 and three ATM cards. According to information received, a resident lady of the house had gone to her relative's house as there was no water in their well. In the evening, when a woman from the neighborhood went to the house from back-yard, she found the door open and went inside the house. When she found no one in the house she got terrified and informed the house lady on the phone.
When this was reported at Bhatkal Town Police Station, police officials came and examined the house. After examination, they found the door locks in the back-yard. Police officials have taken the locks in their custody. This case has been registered at Bhatkal Police Station.
The second theft was reported at Yusuf Master's house adjacent to Kokari Honda's on the National Highway. Thieves here were quick to loot about Rs 50,000 worth of gold from the house. They left behind the arms they used for breaking into the cupboard, etc. According to the information received, members of Yusuf Master's house went today morning to visit a sick relative and left a member named Asif Kazi in the house.
When Asif Kazi left the house at 6:00 pm and came back after Maghrib prayer he was taken by surprise when he found the windows of his house broken. Entering the house, he discovered the thieves had stolen valuables after breaking into the cupboard. A case has been registered at Bhatkal police station and police officials are investigating it.
It should be noted even two months ago many cases of theft were reported in Bhatkal and thieves having information that there is no one in the house stole the gold and cash from the house. After two months, again these incidents have occurred. Police and members of the household should be alert to avoid such incidents.
