Two suicides in Bhatkal on one day

Bhatkal, 21 July 2017: Two separate incidents of suicide were reported on Friday.
In the first incident, a 58 year old man identified as Dada Peer Qasim, hung himself at his residence on Sagar Road while his wife went out to drop their daughter to the bus stop who was leaving for Hubli.
In another incident, Veena Naik (29), a resident of Belke killed herself by jumping into a well. She allegedly killed herself at her own parents home after complaining of marital issues.
Qasim who hails from the Haveri district worked as was a construction worker in Bhatkal.
In her statement to the police, Qasim's wife said, 'While leaving for the bus stop I asked him to come along with us, but he refused and stayed at home. Later when I returned home, the doors were locked from inside and Qasim did not open the door."
She looked in from the window only to find her husband hanging from the ceiling fan. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem at Taluka Government Hospital Bhatkal.
Both the cases are registered at Bhatkal town police station and Bhatkal Rural police station respectively, and further investigations are going on.
