Two MIT students drowned in Kaup Sea

Kaup - 11 August 2011: In a tragic incident, two students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), who went for swimming on Wednesday here in Arabian Sea at Kaup beach in Udupi district drowned.

The victims have been identified as Abhijit Singh (18), from Chandigarh, and Janakish (21), a citizen of Macedonia. According to police, the body of Janakish has been recovered with the help of local people.

The incident occurred at around 4.00 pm, when the duo with other three friends, went for outing at the beach. Four students among the group except Abhijit were foreigners.

It is learnt that Janakish had come to Manipal last month for internship under Student Exchange Scheme.
