Two Kashmiri girls questioned at IGI airport over message on bag: ‘There could be bomb inside’

Two girls from Kashmir pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh were detained for questioning at Delhi airport’s domestic terminal Friday after security personnel spotted a bag with them with the words ‘There could be bomb inside’ inscribed on it, said sources. The girls had flown in from Dhaka and were on their way home when they were stopped for checking, the sources added. The words, which caught the eye of a CISF personnel deployed at the airport around 11 am, were written with a marker, said a source. The CISF personnel alerted Delhi Police and conducted a thorough check of the girls’ bags, the source added. The girls were questioned by police and other security agencies, said sources. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Indira Gandhi International Airport) D K Gupta said, “Security is already on alert after attacks in other countries. As a precautionary measure, we conducted the check and later allowed the girls to go.” The girls, who missed their flight to Srinagar, were allowed to leave around 4 pm, said a police officer. “One of them has a cousin in Delhi and they are staying with that person overnight. They will leave for Srinagar tomorrow,” said the officer.
