Two-day national level Karate championships begins at Bhatkal

Bhatkal 17 December 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Shotokan Karate Institute of Bhatkal on Saturday inaugurated the two-day national level Karate championship here at the Shanbag hall of New English School Bhatkal.
The championship is organised in the memory of late master of Karate and the founder of the institute Vasudev Naik, and on the 25th year of establishment of the institute. Vasudev Naik, who founded the Shotokan Karate Institute, earlier known as ‘Ying Yang Karate school’ in Bhatkal about 25 years ago, died in 2017 due to brain hemorrhage.
After the demise of Vasudev, his student Suresh Moger has taken over the institute and manages it under the supervision of C Rajan, chief instructor YYIMK.
The institute has earlier hosted district and state level championships but it is the first time that the coastal town is witnessing national level championship here.
Members and Participants from Ying Yang Karate Association, Karate Association of India (KAI), Akhila Karnataka Sports Karate Association, World Karate Federation (WKF), International Shotokan Karate club and others are expected to be present during the two day event.
