Bhatkal, June 19: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) With the arrival of the monsoon season, authorities have imposed a ban on tourists entering the Arabian Sea at Murdeshwar, a popular coastal destination in Uttara Kannada district. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety amidst the threat of rough sea conditions and high tidal waves common during the rainy season.
The restriction has been jointly enforced by the Tourism Department, Mavalli Gram Panchayat, and the Murudeshwar Police. Warning banners and notice boards have been placed along the beach to alert visitors about the dangers of entering the water during this time.
Speaking to the media, Murudeshwar Police officials said the sea becomes highly unpredictable during the monsoon months, significantly increasing the risk of drowning and other accidents. The authorities have appealed to tourists and locals to cooperate with the restrictions and strictly avoid entering the sea until further notice.
“This is a routine safety measure we implement every monsoon. The ban will remain in effect throughout the rainy season,” a police official said.
The coastal region sees a surge in tourist footfall during the year, but with high tides and strong currents expected, officials have urged the public to exercise caution and follow all safety advisories issued by the concerned departments.
