Torrential rains cause flooding in costal areas of Karnataka, rivers in spate

Bhatkal: 21 September, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Incessant rains and flash floods continued to wreak havok in coastal areas of Karnataka on Monday. Many rivers in Karnataka are flowing above the danger level.
The meteorological department has issued a red alert in the coastal areas of Karnataka for two more days in view of the rains accompanied by strong winds.
Due to incessant rains, it is becoming difficult to walk on the roads, while important rivers like Kali, Sharavati Gangavalli, Aghanashini, Bedti are flowing above the danger mark, which has created fear among the people in low-lying areas.
It may be recalled that heavy rains in Udupi, Bramavara, Kapu and Karkala have caused heavy damage. Hundreds of millions of rupees have been lost due to water intrusion in houses and shops. Meanwhile, NDRF and other rescue teams are engaged in relief work and those trapped by water are being evacuated by helicopters and other means.
