Bhatkal 9 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Taking note of a report published in Bhatkallys.com dated 22 September, 2018, over non-maintenance of two mini parks in Bhatkal and leaving it to turn into a jungle home for repltiles, the local municipal body (TMC) has cleaned the parks off shrubs and bushes.
Bhatkallys.com had earlier on 22 September, published a report on how the local administration had let the parks turn into a jungle wherein incidents of reptile like snakes entering and coming out were reported by the locals and residents.
Three mini parks one each at NH 66 (NH17 then) near city light hotel, Bunder road fifth cross and one near Bhatkal urban co-operative bank on Main road were constructed in the year 2004, when Parvez Kashimji was the president of TMC Bhatkal.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com a TMC official close to the development said "The parks were to be cleaned anyhow at the end of November or early December as usual, but since the report was issued in Bhatkallys.com the link of the report did circulate in WhatsApp groups of the employees after which we were asked about the maintenance and snakes/reptiles being reported, by one of the top official, and simultaneously we were asked to get it cleaned as soon as possible"
"The report did have an impact of the cleaning being done earlier than scheduled, I congratulate Bhatkallys.com team for stepping up, and doing their duty while also creating awareness among us about where we lag and need to work for the convenience of the citizens" the official said while requesting anonymity.
