TMC continues crackdown on plastic usage; raid Sunday market, seizes 53 kg of plastic from vendors

Bhatkal 19 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) TMC officials continued its crackdown on the use of plastic and conducted a raid at the 'Sante market' Sunday market on Sunday and seized about 53 kgs of plastic bags.

TMC senior health officer Soujiya Suman while speaking to media after the raids added "Though we have imposed ban on use of these plastic carry bags since last four months, the shopkeepers and vendors have refrained from dumping the idea of using plastic bags, they are still using it which has forced us to carry these raids every now and then."

"Despite warnings using different channels like local media houses, using hand-bills, public announcements on mics, the numbers have not come down" TMC junior health officer Ajay Bhandarkar said.
