Tipu Jayanti Program held in New Shams School

Bhatkallys News Service Bhatkal 10 November 2016: ‘There is no other ruler comparatively even close to Tippu Sultan, Who was at a time a good administrator, writer, religious and a visionary for his people with a secular mindset.’ These lines were used by prominent scholar of the town, Moulana Ilyas Jakti who has authored a book on Tippu Sultan. He was addressing students at a Tippu Jayanti Celebration event at New Shams School Bhatkal on Thursday Morning.  Further in his address he added there was no other ruler other than Sultan up on whose demise the British general declared ‘India is our Country hereon’. He also termed the ruler as ‘The Bravest’. He gave a detailed introduction of his works and counted his milestones decisions of bringing in the first Printing Press, Starting the first Urdu Newspaper in the region, Setting up the Panchayath Administration, and also called him the Missile Man. He scrapped all the allegations against Tippu Sultan charged by Non-Muslims for killings in Mangaluru and Coorg. He said the killings were only on a Political note and not only non-Muslims but also many Muslims lost their lives in that period. He claimed the Non-Muslim sects of the region actually are not aware of the right history, and the day when they will learn the right history and the donations and privileges given by the ruler to the Temples and Churches, (Which can be found in Records) they will start loving Tippu More than the Muslims. He later advised the students and follow the footsteps of the ruler and have an positive and clear mindset about all the religions of the society and respect them. In his presidential address Ashraf Barmawar also advised the students to have an secular approach towards all the religions and communities and follow our Islam righteously.
