Tipu Jayanti celebrated in Bhatkal

Bhatkal 10 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Taluka Administration, Taluka Panchayat, TMC and Jali Patan Panchayath jointly organised Tippu Jayanthi celebration here at Khushaal  hall of Bhatkal here on Saturday, November 10. After inaugurating the event Zila Panchayat President Jayashree Moger spoke on the occasion and said “Its a pleasure to inaugurate such an event. Tippu was a great ruler, he fought against British and led his administration in favor of his people. Though, we all belong from different religion, caste, language and race we have all gathered here as one, which is the main intention of this celebration. As we integrate ourselves as one, we can see a better India” she added. The Chief guest of the event, Moulana Muhammed Iqbal Naite of Jamia Islamia said “Tipu was a great ruler who treated his citizens equally. During his rule the Hindu-Muslim community were living peacefully. He also established brotherhood among the people of his territory.” "Bhatkal has a connection with Tipu, his grandmother belonged to Bhatkal's Nawayath community, so Bhatkal has the first right to celebrate Tipu Jayanti" he further added while also going on to say that those who love Tipu, loves India and those who hate him, hate India as he fought for the country against British till his last breath. A poet and a retired professor Shripad Shetty who was also the chief guest of the event spoke on Tipu Sultan and said “It was not a easy rule during his time. He never stopped defending his territory from foreign invasion.” He added. He further added saying “It was Hyder Ali, Tippu’s father who started the construction of Lal Bagh of Bengaluru however, Tippu finished the incomplete work later. As for his remarkable contributions he is still remembered today” he added. Prizes were also distributed among students who participated and won prizes in several cultural programs including essay writing organised by education department in the context of Tipu Jayanti. On this occasion Bhatkal Tahsildar VN Bhadkar, Assistant commissioner Sajjid Mulla, TMC President Sadiq Matta, Jali Patan Panchayath President Adam Panambur, DySP Valentine D’souza, TMC CO Venkatesh Navuda, Tanzeem General Secretary Altaf Kharuri, Police personnel, students of several schools and others were present during the event.
