The Hennur police have detained three persons after they allegedly attacked an African student identified as Pisse Hotto. According to the police, Pisse Hotto stopped by a shop in Hennur to buy some cigarettes, but the shopkeeper said that there was no stock. However, when he was leaving, he noticed that the shopkeeper was selling cigarettes to a group of locals who had come just then. When he questioned the shopkeeper why he had not given him the cigarettes, the group intervened and defended the shopkeeper. The brawl led to fisticuffs within no time. Pisse Hotto claimed that he had tried to run away. First he entered a liquor outlet with the hope of saving himself, but was chased away. Then he ran up some stairs of a house from where the residents shooed him away. Finally, when he ran into another house, a woman there managed to stop the mob from chasing him, according to Bosco of the African Students’ Association in Bengaluru. “The mob tried to threaten the lady as well, but she stood her ground and said she would call the police,” added Bosco. Soon after this, injured Pisse Hotto became unconscious soon after which he was rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, based on information provided by Pisse Hotto’s friend, Marian, the Hennur Police registered a case. On Thursday, they detained three persons in this connection. -The Hindu
