Third TMC raid on shops in Bhatkal under one month of plastic ban; 70 kg of plastic seized

Bhatkal 07 September 2018:  (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Town Municipality council (TMC) on Thursday carried another raid in several shops of downtown market and seized over 70 kg of plastics here on September 8. The raids were carried out in shops near Sultan street and fish market and over 70 kg of plastics were seized, the officials also handed a fine of Rs. 500/- to the shop owners where the plastics were found for violating the rules. Ever since implementing the plastic ban in the town on August 14, the local authorities have been strict towards the ban and has carried two raid earlier where over 150 kg of plastic were seized. The third raid on Thursday has come in less than a month of implementation of the ban, the officials have again warned the shop owners to refrain from using plastics and polythene bags Health officer Sujiya Soman, Assistant health officer Ajay and other officials were present during the raid.
