Tej Pratap threatens PM Modi for downgrading Lalu’s security cover

PATNA: Furious over the Centre's decision to withdraw Lalu Prasad's NSG security cover, RJD chief's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday said that he will "skin" PM Narendra Modi. "Narendra Modi ka khaal udhedva lenge," Tej Pratap said after coming out of the state legislature on the first day of Winter session on Monday. Soon after Tej's statement, BJP's West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma lodged an FIR against him at Parliament Street police Station. Tej Pratap, who had also threatened to disrupt Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi's son's wedding, alleged that the Centre has withdrawn the NSG security cover as part of a conspiracy to kill his father. "Our party keeps on organising public meets, which is participated by Laluji as well. But the way NSG security has been withdrawn, it clearly shows that a conspiracy is being hatched to kill Lalu Ji. Unko muh tod jawab denge, Narendra Modi ka khaal udhedva lenge," Tej Pratap said. Earlier, Union home ministry issued an order regarding withdrawal of Lalu's NSG security cover as well as downgrading the 'Z'-Plus security category to 'Z' category on Sunday evening. Lalu was provided with a convoy of two NSG and two CRPF escort vehicles. Lalu will now hardly have around 35 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos, who are especially trained for providing VIP security. All the eight NSG bodyguards provided to Lalu were also withdrawn with immediate effect. Lalu's younger son and leader of opposition in legislative assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also alleged that Lalu can be killed. "Laluji is on the hit list, he can be killed ... My father is surrounded with hundreds of people in his public interactions, at times in Naxal-infested areas. If anything happens to him after downgrading his security, then Centre and state government would be responsible for it," Tejashwi said on the sidelines of the first day of the winter session of the state legislature. Lalu's wife Rabri Devi also condemned Centre's decision to downgrade the security cover of her husband. Rabri had earlier this month warned that there is no paucity of people in Bihar who are willing to assault the PM - her assertion was in response to BJP's state president Nityanand Rai demanding that criticism of the PM should be met with "hands being chopped off". Apart from Lalu, the Centre also took back former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi's Z-plus security cover. Manjhi had altogether 46 CRPF men guarding him and his residence round the clock, which have now been withdrawn. However, Manjhi's security cover of Special Security Group (SSG) provided by the state government would continue like earlier as he is a former CM. After Sunday's change in security cover of Lalu and Manjhi, Bihar now has no one with Z-plus security cover. Only 18 VIPs are in the state who get 'Z' security cover provided by central government.
Earlier, in July, the Union ministry of civil aviation withdrew direct tarmac access to Lalu and his wife Rabri on their own vehicles at Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport, Patna.
