Patna: A 15-year-old boy from Bihar's Bhagalpur has sought permission from President Ram Nath Kovind to end his life due to 'distress' owning to strained relations between his parents, reported a news agency. The Prime Minister's Office has reportedly intervened into the matter, directing the district authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary action. PMO's intervention came after the President's office forwarded the letter. According to the news agency, the PMO acted swiftly and alerted the Bhagalpur district administration officials. The boy currently lives in Jharkhand with his father who's a government employee posted in Deoghar and his mother - who's also working a government employee - is posted in Patna. According to the report, the father and the mother are not on good terms and have accused each other of extra-marital relationships. The boy reportedly grew up in Bhagalpur but shifted to Deoghar after his grandfather who also worked as a government employee retired. The grandfather has squarely blamed the mother for the sour relationship of the couple. In the letter addressed to President Kovind, the boy expressed distress over 'nasty' quarrels between his father and mother and claimed that the atmosphere was having an adverse impact on his studies. The boy has further claimed that the situation has worsened to such extent that his father was now being threatened by "anti-social elements" at the behest of his mother. "Disgusted with the situation, the boy wanted to end his life. Investigations are on in the matter and action will be taken in accordance with law," a district official was quoted by PTI as saying.
