Tanzeem delegation meets SP, demands action against MP Anant Kumar

February 29, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: A delegation consisting members from Bhatkal's socio-political organization met district SP  today and demanded action against Anant Kumar Dattatreya Hegde, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Uttar Kannada (Canara) constituency for his highly deplorable comments against Islam and Muslims in a press conference. Earlier on Sunday, addressing media persons at a press conference held in Sirsi, Hegde reportedly said "Terror will prevail in this world as long as Islam prevails" Shock and outrage State health and family welfare minister U T Khader called on home minister Dr G Parameshwar on Monday and urged him to suo motu take up legal proceedings against Hegde. He said that the MP might have uttered such derogatory words for the sake of cheap publicity. But while holding a responsible position of a Lok Sabha member, Hegde should have realized the possible ill-effects of such outbursts, he said. Dakshina Kannda district qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar, Muslim Central Committee president K S Muhammed Masood, Muslim Merchants’ Association president Ali Hassan and many others have condemned the MP’s statement and have demanded strict action against him. - With inputs from Agencies
