Tahsildar chairs meeting in Bhatkal to resume four-lane highway work

Bhatkal: 08 November 2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau After repeated appeals from the Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike and several local organisations, the long-pending national highway four-lane construction work in Bhatkal is set to resume soon. A review meeting on the issue was held at the taluk office on Friday under the chairmanship of Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetti, who issued clear directions to the concerned officials.
He said that with the monsoon subsiding, the pending roadwork could restart immediately. However, before that, streetlight installations at Tenginagundi, Jali Cross, Mankuli, Anfal Market, Shamsuddin Circle, PLD Bank, and Usmania Cross should be completed, he instructed.
The meeting also discussed compensation payments to highway-affected residents of Koteswara Colony and the need to expedite work on the water pipeline along Sagar Road. Tahsildar Kolashetti stressed that any issue or disruption during the construction must be promptly brought to the notice of the administration.
Bhatkal Town Police Inspector Divakar, who also spoke at the meeting, suggested installing zebra crossings at key points along the highway. The Tahsildar immediately directed IRB officials to take necessary action.
It was decided to hold a follow-up review meeting after 15 days under the chairmanship of the Assistant Commissioner. Later, officials and police personnel visited Shamsuddin Circle for an on-site inspection.
IRB official Sudesh, Town Municipal Council Chief Officer Venkatesh Navuda, Jali Town Panchayat Chief Officer Manjappa, and officials from PWD and IRB were present at the meeting.
