Surge in COVID cases: Karnataka makes wearing masks in public places compulsory again

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government on Monday issued fresh COVID guidelines to be followed mandatorily in the state including the wearing of masks. The move comes in the wake of the surge in COVID cases in the state and in other parts of the country. The order issued by the government on Monday stated that non-compliance with wearing masks in public places, workplaces, and during transport will attract penalty fines. The order further added that spitting in public places will also be punishable with a fine. It further mandated individuals to maintain social distancing – a minimum distance of two feet – in public places. The order also stated that the state an upsurge in daily COVID cases was observed in the state along with other states in India including Tamil Nadu, Haryana, and Delhi. (Source: Vartha Bharati)
