Superb Mangaluru Jamat Eid Milan receives tremendous applause

MANGALURU - It was a moment to remember for a long time to come. The Eid Milan 2017 organised by Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen, Mangaluru (BJM) at Prestige International School auditorium evoked great appreciation by those attended or watched live.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohiyuddin Bava, Mangalore MLA, appreciated the role played by Bhatkalis in Mangaluru. Kazia Muzzammil, president, Tanzeem, appealed to the Mangaluru Jamat to guide Gulf Returnees Bhatkalis to explore job and business opportunities in Mangaluru.
Highly appreciating the documentary on late M.A. Ghani saheb, Moulana Ilyas Nadvi, general secretary, Moulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi Islamic Academy, hailed Ghani's selfless services and appreciated the Jamat for instituting an award in his memory. Ismail Siddique, general secretary, Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen; and Moulvi Talha Ruknuddeen, general secretary, Jamatul Muslimeen, Bhatkal, were on the dais along with Imtiaz Damda, generel secretary, BJM and Mohtesham Jan Abdurrahman, former BJM president. A host of special guests from Bhatkal also graced the event which was executed professionally.
The event began with qiraat and its translation followed by a brilliantly prepared video documentary which beautifully traced the journey of Bhatkalis in Mangaluru and profiling the Jamat activities. Aftab Husain Kola, convenor of the BJM Eid Milan welcomed and introduced the guests. SM Arshad, president of the BJM said, "The Jamath has been in the forefront in guiding and also giving monetary assistance to the needy people from Bhatkal and its surroundings who come to Mangalore for their medical needs. That is the reason we are honoring the doctors who are supporting us all through."
The M.A. Ghani Award for Academic Excellence 2017 instituted by the BJM Mangaluru was launched with a brilliant documentary on late Ghani saheb highlighting his life and his contribution to the society. The professionally done documentary with rare clips of Ghani saheb received a big round of applause. Winners of these awards were given a beautiful trophy, certificate and cash prize (see separate report). Another highlight of the event was the honoring of some 20 eminent doctors from Mangaluru. SM Sawood, convenor, BJM Medical Assistance Committee, thanked the doctors for their support. Two doctors spoke on doctors' behalf assuring the Bhatkal community of further support. The efforts of the BJM in getting these busy doctors to attend the event was widely hailed.
The event saw the presence of some prominent personalities of Bhatkal and Bhatkal NRIs who were individually felicitated with an elegant memento. Talha Akrami, secretary, BJM Mangaluru proposed the vote of thanks. Ansar Musba, vice-president, BJM, office-bearers SM Ashfaque and Abdulla Musba and executive members Mohammed Husain Kharuri, Sada Hasan Bapa, Moulana Saalim Moulana, Tayyab Ali Akbara, Ashraf Sada, Sameer Kashimji, Dr. Siraj Mohtesham, were present on the occasion.
The entertainment segment which began after magrib and sumptuous dinner was a kaleidoscope of culture. It began with a Navayathi hamd followed by a beautiful na'at and Markas Detha Awaaz song. The fancy dress items - forest scene as theme and another profession as theme - received maximum applause. It was interesting to watch the little kids showcase their talents. Khalifa Dawood Moulana, executive committee member of BJM, announced the winners of essay and quiz competitions held earlier as part of Eid Milan. The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates by SM Arshad, BJM president.
Highly acclaimed poet-singer Syed Samiullah Barmavaer regaled the audience with two songs. The one outlining the history of Navayaths in Mangaluru was greatly acknowledged. Another talented singer Noufil Damudi entertained the audience.
The program ended with a Raffle. The mega prize of Honda Activa sponsored by SQAURE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPERS, owned by Hifzurrahman Barmavar was won by Mrs. Sameer Kashimji. The BJM has thanked all the sponsors for extending its patronage to the event.
