Sullia: Police inspector injured while raiding illegal sand laden truck

Zaorez Shabab Sullia 14 Dec 2017: Police Sub-Inspector Manjunath of Sullia Police Station sustained injuries on his legs, back and hands while he was trying to stop a illegal sand laden tipper. The driver of the tipper Gagan, a resident of Sampaje, village in a bid to escape the police raid, pushed Manjunath off his truck when Manjunath was trying to drag him out of his truck by holding his collar. Sampath, a resident of Gunadka of Sampaje village, has been identified as the owner of the truck who was also present at the scene and escaped the raid along with Gagan. On Wednesday 13 Dec, Manjunath, working on a tip-off went to the Jalsoor village, to raid the sand laden truck. Manjunath was later treated at the Taluka Govt. Hospital of Sullia. The owner of the truck Sampath, is said to be an history sheeter, and has cases of attempts of murders and others registered against him. The police seized the truck and a manhunt is launched against both Gagan and Sampath.
