Student attack in Honnavar was ‘fake news’

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ AJ Asadi Honnavar 14 Dec 2017: A school going girl student was attacked by knives by two unidentified attackers on Thursday morning in Maagod The incident was followed by several rumors doing the rounds on social media including one video showing two Burqa clad men attacking the girl which further stirred the tension in the tension which is already dealing with the communal clashes for over one week now. According to a report published in Varhta Bharti, a local Kannada daily newspaper, when they contacted Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil about the incident, Patil rubbished the rumors of Burqa clad men attacking the girl. Patil told Vartha Bharti that the although the attackers were unidentified but none of them was wearing Burqa, and neither the girl in her statement has not mentioned about burqa clad men.
