State rings in new year with hike in milk prices by Rs 4 per litre

BENGALURU: The state government has decided to hike the prices of milk by Rs four per litre from January 5. After a late evening meeting between chief minister Siddaramaiah and minister of state for animal husbandry A Manju, the government decided to hike the prices of milk by the said amount. The hike is the second time in the last 15 months, with the last hike of Rs 2 implemented in September 2013. The hike would effectively mean that Toned Milk prices will rise from Rs 29 to Rs 33 per litre, with other milk varieties going up by Rs 4 similarly in southern parts of Karnataka. In North Karnataka districts the prices for Toned Milk will go up to Rs 34 per litre as opposed the present rates of Rs 30 per litre, with other variants going up by Rs 4 similarly.
