State Level Kabaddi Tournament

Bhatkal 5, Dec 2010: Without doubt, Bhatkalli players interested in Kabaddi have no dearth of competitions. The latest, a state level kabaddi tournament organised by Katteveera Sports Club put the spotlight on local talent yet again. Thouands of spectators thronged the venue as a thrilling finale had the audience on its feets.

In the end, a one point difference ensured that Hodi Bangalore walked away with the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000 as HAL Lion Bangalore had to do with the runners-up title and a reward of Rs, 15,000. The competition, a goodwill building exercise, had players from all walks of life enjoying the sport as good conduct and chivallry marked its success.

Earlier, the inaugural match of the two day tournament was played between Bedgi and Kudri Virappa Bhatkal. Other teams who participated in the tournament included Labbaik Nawayath, Sai Dharwad, Bhatkal Taluka team, Honnavar Arogya Matha, Cosmos Bhatkal, Kette Vira Bhatkal, Honnavar Taluk and Bhatkal Azad. A total of 21 teams from all over Karnataka participated in the tournament. Thousands of spectators attended the final as players from both sides were honoured by Inayatullah Shabandri and Shivanand Naik along with other dignitaries present at the tournament.
