In a raid conducted by the Income Tax department in August 2017, unaccounted cash at properties belonging to Shivakumar was seized.
Shivkumar was booked under four cases following the raids that were conducted by I-T officials at Eagleton resort in Bidadi and has got bail in all the four cases.
He was charged under sections 276C(1) [wilful tax evasion] and 277 [false statement in verification] of the Income Tax Act.
The I-T officials had found Rs 8.5 crore in cash with him in August 2017, after that for the following two months all the properties of the minister were raided by the IT department.
Then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had supported Shivakumar by saying that the raids were political strategy played by the opposition to spoil Shivakumar's name.
