Spirit of India run receives warm welcome in Bhatkal

Feb 06, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The Kanyakumari to Kashmir run, being undertaken by Australian athlete and former member of Australian Parliament Pat Farmer, aimed at raising funds for education of Indian girls and strengthening ties between India and Australia, reached the town today where it received a warm welcome by taluka administration. The 'Spirit of India Run' began from Kanyakumari on January 26 and after passing through Kerala and covering 900 kms it entered the Uttar Karanataka district today. Speaking to media persons, Farmer said the run was organised to raise funds for the education of girl children and strengthen the Australia-India relationship. Assistant Commissioner Chidananda Vatare and Tahsildar V N Badkar welcomed Farmer and his team to the town. The marathon will cover 4,600 km across the length of the country. - ARF
