Bhatkal – Gousia Street, famous place from where the Bhatkal town evolved and where the population of more than thousand people are residing from hundreds of years are now forced to migrate to other places because of bad drainage and sewage problems. The trouble started 10 years ago when Drainage Filter System was introduced near Hira River. Soon after its introduction, trouble began and the dirty sewage started polluting ground water and Hira River.
The Drainage Filter Plant which was constructed for the progress of the area has now become the headache for the residents. Ground water in that area is contaminated and become unhygienic for drinking. Due to this people who are residing over there from many years are forced to leave their ancestral homes and migrating to other places. Many people had complained about this but all the appeals have fallen on the deaf ears of the concerned authorities and nobody seems interested in solving their problems.
