Soon ‘VTMS’ app from KSRTC

Mangaluru: The corporation has come forward to create a ‘Vehicle Tracking and Monitoring System’ (VTMS) based app to keep an eye on the movement of KSRTC buses. The company is conducting discussions regarding the special expenses and possibilities regarding the creation do the app and the tender process in this connection is expected to be held in a few days.
KSRTC already has 84 depots, 17 divisions and a total of 8,729 buses. As part of the first phase, VTMS tech has been installed in 2,000 buses spread across Mangaluru, Puttur, Mysuru rural and Ramanagara divisions. The second phase will be started soon and KSRTC has decided to install the tech on all of its buses.
The system is currently in the hands of the division and information regarding the bus route, speed and for how long the vehicle has stopped is beamed to the control room via the server.
What is VTMS?
VMTS is the method in which GPS system is installed in the bus to track its movement. A GPS unit is first installed in the bus through which information regarding the movement of the bus and the time it will be reaching the bus stand will be available.

“2,000 buses at the 4 KSRTC divisions have been installed with VTMS technology. This system will be installed in all the buses of the division in the coming days. Currently, discussions are being held regarding VTMS app, and tenders for the app are expected to be called soon thereby making our service passenger friendly,” informed Shivayogi C Kalasad, Managing Director, KSRTC
