Six succumb to road accident near Anantapur

ANANTAPUR, July 23, 2016: Six people have been confirmed dead while five more have been severely injured in a gruesome accident involving a Chevrolet Tavera vehicle and a truck near the Sankepalli village of the Mudigubba mandal of the Anantapur district. According to the police and eye witnesses, a truck going towards Anantapur hit a Chevrolet Tavera vehicle going to Tirupati from Anantapur at around 3:40 a.m., killing five people on the spot while injuring six more severely. One died while being shifted to the Rural Development Trust Hospital at Battalapalli mandal headquarters, about 20 km away. The police told The Hindu that the vehicle was carrying eleven people in total; a considerable number - four children – believed to be below the age of ten years. Police said that, two children, two men and two women died in the accident as the Tavera went well out of its track hitting the right edge of the truck. "It took more than seven people and two earth movers to pull out the Tavera from the truck and then open the doors of the mangled vehicle and pull out the injured," said K.
