Sirsi: Ancient idol of 'Huli Devaru' stolen

Sirsi 29 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) An Ancient idol of 'Huli Devaru' (Tiger God) at Besalakoppa village of Sirsi taluk, that belonged to Sodhe Kingdom which flourished during the times of Vijayanagara Empire was reportedly stolen on Wenesday here.

The villagers used to worship the idol with grandeur on the occasion of Diwali festival. The beliefs pertaining to the idol was that the locals believed the idol would heal the cattle and animals of people who would suffer from any diseases or ailments. As it was a center of devotion for many devotees, the place was popularly known as "Huli Devara Katte". PSI Shiv Kumar visited the spot and began investigation of the matter after registering a case at Sirsi rural police station. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
