SIO Bhatkal Unit collects Rupees 1.5 lac in one day for Kerala floods relief fund

Bhatkal 19 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Bhatkal unit on Friday collected about Rupees 1.5 lac for the relief funds for Kerala flooding in a single day, by deploying its volunteers at five different mosques during Friday prayers here in Bhatkal.
The organisation is leading the drive of collecting relief funds from across the country through its regional units to help the flood affected state of Kerala which has been hit with the second worst flood of the century in the country, wherein over 370 people have been killed and over three lac people are displace and are in the relief camps with several organisations, NGOs and government aiding the relief camps.
SIO Bhatkal unit after collecting nearly Rupees 1.5 lac on Friday, again collected Rupees over 17,000/- on Sunday with its volunteers deployed at the Sunday market appealing people for their contribution to the relief funds.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com SIO Bhatkal unit's secretary Sanaullah Asadi said "We have collected nearly 1.7 lac rupees as of now and we will continue the collection drive for a few more days before sending the money there, we will send the money through our SIO units which are already working in the ground and a team from Bhatkal may also go and join the rescue and restoration work there".
Sanaullah also appealed to the residents to help the residents of neighboring state.
Other organisations of Bhatkal have also joined the cause and are contributing their aid to the affected state, JCI Bhatkal on Saturday announced that the organisation collected 61,000 Rupees in cash along with 300 bed sheets, dresses and medicine which were dispatched on Saturday.
Leading socio-political organisation Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal has also planned to deploy its volunteers during the Eid-ul-Adha prayers on August 22 for collection of funds, which will be followed by door to door collection by its volunteers for next few days.
"Our delegation will also visit the affected areas in Kerala and we will accordingly contribute our aid in co-ordination with the Bhatkal Muslim Jamat Kerala, we are in touch with them and we will mostly focus on collection of cash as other national organisations are already lending their helping hand with other goods, food items etc" Siddique DF media convener of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal informed Bhatkallys.com
