Silverware worth over Rs 1 Crore looted from a house in Murudeshwar

Murudeshwar - 14 July 2011: A theft of idols and silverware worth over Rs 1 crore have been reported from 'Amma', residence of Mumbai-based entrepreneur Sadananda Shetty here in Murdeshwar.

The burglary was reportedly took place on Tuesday night. Shetty is a resident of Mumbai, running his firm, Capricorn Logistics.

It may be noted that, he use to visit this house only once or twice a year. Mr Gopal Shetty, a caretaker is looking after this house during his absence.

On a complaint from Gopal Shetty, the Murudeshwar police inspected the spot of theft. Special Dog squads from Karwar were also requisitioned. Sniffing indicated the culprits used a getaway vehicle.

On hearing the news, Sadananda Shetty rushed to Murudeshwar and while speaking to the reporters, he expressed extreme distress over the theft of his possessions, which he had held in reverence and awe all along. He has also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who would recover the stolen property. He said, he is ready to give Rs 5 lakhs to anyone including police and even to the thieves, if they surrender the stolen goods.
