Bengaluru: Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, K R Ramesh Kumar, has vacated his office on the first floor of the complex, as it has now been given to former chief minister Siddaramaiah. Although Siddaramaiah is the elected leader of the Congress Legislative Party and the chairman of the JD(S)-Congress government coordination committee, he has no constitutional post in the fresh state government. The office was renovated by the previous speaker, K B Koliwad, at a cost of Rs 68 lakhs. The renovations included turning the single-room space into a double. Now Siddaramaiah's new office, it comes complete with high-end wooden furniture- plush sofas, chairs and an LED TV among other luxuries. By giving this office meant for the Assembly speaker, to Siddaramaiah, the government has raised many eyebrows considering rumours of the former CM being sidelined have been doing the rounds.
