Shiroor: Tension prevails after Youth dare Ganesh Idol rally to cross the mosque

Bhatkallys News Service/ I. Zaorez Shabab Shiroor Aug 26: A minor disturbance arised between two communities during Ganeshotsava rally at Jogur in Byndoor here on Friday, August 25. A procession with the idol of Ganesha was being taken out for installation of the idol from Venkatramana temple, to Shankernarayana temple premises in Jogur. when a few youth stopped the rally from proceeding from the road near Bukari colony mosque, Shiroor. The rally was allegedly waylaid by residents identified as Younus, Samir, Faeek, Ilyas Usman Saheb, Yasin and Samil. It is reported that Younus, Samir and Ilyas Usman Saheb threatened to set their vehicles on fire if they dare cross the mosque with the idol while holding stones and footwear in their hands. And also warned against holding such procession in future. A case was registered at Byndoor police station after receiving complaint from Ganeshotsava Samiti president Vinayak Jogur. Right-wing outfit Bajrang Dal has called for a protest against Friday's incident. The protest will be held on August 28 at 3 pm at Byndoor circle.
