Bhatkal 22 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Union Minister and Uttara Kannada MP, Anant Kumar Hegde on Monday visited Shirali and attended the meeting of Shirali Gram Panchayath and addressed the issue of National Highway widening with the Panchayath members and the locals.
During the meeting, Hegde said, “I have been receiving requests from the locals and officials from here to visit Shirali and address the issue, as density of population is growing in Shirali, the number of accidents would increase if the widening of National Highway here is limited to only 30 meters.”
“The road will be widened to 45 meters as demanded by the locals and a flyover will also be constructed here” Hegde said during the meeting.
Speaking of Lok Sabha elections due this year, Hegde added that people who want to elect him will vote for him and that the development of Shirali is the priority for now, adding that politics and votes are not his priority at the moment.
MLA Sunil Naik while addressing the gathering said, “A considerable amount of people visit the famous Chitrapur Mutt, Alvikodi temple and other monuments that come under the radius of Shirali limits. Therefore, it is necessary to widen the road to 45 meters”.
Earlier, Gram Panchayath President Venkatesh Naik presented a brief analysis report in the backdrop of limiting the road extension to 30 meters.
Panchayat vice president Sunitha Herorkar, TP member Mohan Devadiga, Bhatkal BJP unit president Rajesh Naik, Dinesh Naik, Ravi Naik and others were also present in the meeting.
