Seven students honoured with BJM-Mangalore's M.A. Ghani Awards for Academic Excellence

MANGALURU (Bhatkallys News Bureau) - The second edition of the prestigious M.A. Ghani Awards for Academic Excellence instituted by the Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen, Manguluru was held here yesterday. Seven students bagged the awards and one student was given a special award. The event held on Sunday at the scenic Boat Club on the banks of Gurupura river at Sultan Battery here, was a resounding success and was graced by large crowd of Bhatkalis settled in Mangalore. The event, held from 11 am to 4.30 pm, also comprised of welcome drink, fellowship, sumptuous lunch, snacks, games and raffle draw.
Speaking on the occasion, Moulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb, Imam and khateeb of Jamia Masjid, Bhatkal lauded the activities of Mangalore Jamat and appealed to the parents, "Along with academic excellence and marks, they should focus more on developing students with good character to face the future." Mohiddin Altaf Kharoori, general secretary of Majlise Islah wa Tanzeem, Bhatkal, was honoured on the occasion for Tanzeem receiving the recent Achiever's Award by Vijay Karnatak newspaper. He said, "The Mangalore Jamat is rendering excellent services to the community and I thank the Jamat for the honour it has bestowed on Tanzeem for winning the Achiever's Award." Mohtesham Abdul Bari was also honoured for his patronage to the Mangalore Jamat.
S.M. Arshad, president of BJM, Mangalore, said, "We have set up an investment committee to help provide jobs and investment opportunities for our people, especially the NRIs who have returned back or planning to shift to India because of the difficult situation in the Gulf countries." The Jamat also felicitated Salim Kola whose daughter was appointed Attorney in the state of California, US.

2. Hafiz Abdul Raheem Mohtisham (Iqra Arabic School – Mangaluru)
3. Miss Amal Ekkeri (Beary's Public School, Hat Hill, Mangaluru)
4. Miss Khadija Nufrah SJ (Beary's Public School, Hat Hill Mangaluru)
5. Mr. Muhammed Arfa Damda (St. Theresa’s School, Bendoorwell, Mangaluru)
6. Mr. Ahmed Vaseel SJ (B.E.)(N.M.A.M Institute of Technology, NITTE - Mangaluru)
7. Mr. Mohammed Ayyad (M.Tech) (N.M.A.M Institute of Technology, NITTE - Mangaluru)
Dr. Fathima Isra Mohtesham – BDS (Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka, Mangaluru) was given a special award.
Earlier, Mohammed Iqbal Siddiqua recited the qiraat followed by welcome address by Imthiyaz Damda, general secretary of BJM. Sineen Sawood SM and her team sang the “Banungi Mein Hafize Quran” song followed by Alina Kulsum Kashaf Sada and Mehreen Talha Akrami and their teams rendered nazms. Haniya Imthiyaz Damda recited the names of Surahs while Abdurrahman Aftab Kola delivered a speech on the importance of education.
Daniel Mohtisham and his team conducted games and quiz. Aftab Kola and Moulana Dawood Khalifa compered the programme while Moulana Saalim Khalifa proposed the vote of thanks. SM Sawood, convenor of the event, thanked the people for gracing the occasion in large numbers. Executive committee members Mohammed Ansar Musba, Sada Hasan Bapa, Mohammed Husain Kharuri, Talha Akrami, SM Ashfaque, Tayyab Aliakbara, Ashraf Sada, Sameer Kashimji, Abdulla Musba and Abdul Azeem Damudi were present on the occasion.
