Scores of people join Tanzeem in Bhatkal against NRC, CAA

Bhatkal: Thousands of people led by local socio-political organisation Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem on Monday staged huge protest in the town with nearly ten thousand people demanding withdrawal of CAA and NRC’s implementation in the country. The protest rally began from National Highway 66 and marched through the landmark Shamsuddin Circle before gathering at Anjuman ground near old bus stand. A public gathering was held at the Anjuman Ground  wherein several local social and political leaders including CPI (M) leader Yamuna Naik, Activist and Columnist Shiv Sundar and others called for withdrawal of the NRC and CAA. Several slogans against the two laws passed by the BJP led NDA Government at the centre were raised with protesters also carrying placards and banners along with National Flag. The protest rally and event concluded with protesters singing National Anthem. Officials of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Guest speakers, convenor of protest committee, Inayatullah Shabandri and others were present on the dais. Dr. Haneef Shabab, former Tanzeem General Secretary and noted Journalist compered the public event while former Tanzeem President and Judge Muzammil Kazia also addressed the event. A memorandum was also submitted to the Assistant Commissioner of Bhatkal, addressed to the Chief Justice of India urging him to immediately hear the petitions filed against the NRC and CAA.
