Saumendu Mukherjee takes over as new Belagavi police chief

BELAGAVI: Saumendu Mukherjee, a 1988 Karnataka cadre IPS officer took charge as Belagavi city police commissioner on Saturday, following incumbent commissioner S Ravi has transferred with promotion as Inspector General of Police of Karnataka Reserve Police.
Speaking to reporters, Mukherjee said he would try to focus on improving the law and order situation by improving policing in and around the city limits, and initiating strict action against offenders. Meanwhile, he stressed upon to be friendly with law-abiding citizens. During charge taking ceremony DCP Anupam Agarwal, DCP Amaranath Reddy and other senior cops were present.
