Saudi Arabia changes weekend to Friday-Saturday

saudi-arabia Dubai (DC): Saudi Arabia has shifted the official weekend to Friday and Saturday to adjust the kingdom's economy with other regional markets to achieve economic gains for the kingdom. The official working week from Sunday to Thursday was announced by Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on Sunday in a royal decree carried on state print and broadcast media, Gulf News report. According to the report, with this change, Saudi Arabia became the last country in the Gulf Cooperation Council to quit a Thursday-Friday weekend. The king said that the Saudi stock exchange, Saudi central bank, other financial institutions and government ministries will move to a Friday and Saturday weekend, starting on June 29. The schools would follow the change with the start of the new academic year. Friday is the main day of prayer for Muslims.   Deccan Chronicle
