Sasikala's wait to secure parole drags on

The recently evicted AIADMK chief, VK Sasikala, who was seeking to secure a parole might have to wait a little longer. VK Sasikala, who left her husband decades ago to live with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was looking for the parole due to her husband's condition. According to India Today's sources, Tamil Nadu police have not yet given an NOC regarding her security. After the first parole petition filed by Sasikala's advocates was rejected on technical grounds on Tuesday, a fresh application was filed today. The advocates, it is learnt, secured a medical certificate signed by a gazetted officer on the condition of Sasikala's husband, who is being treated for various serious illnesses at the Gleneagles Global Health City. Sasikala's husband M Natarajan underwent a life-saving double organ transplant after receiving organs from a brain-dead teen donor. In the evening, supporters of Sasikala were upbeat about her imminent release but they were ultimately left disappointed. The lawyer Ashokan who entered the jail to submit all the required documents at around 1.45 pm only came out at around 9 pm. Speaking to India Today, he said some processes are still going on and the parole case is pending with the jail authorities. "It is left to the jail authorities and it has nothing to do with the TN police NOC issue," he added. With a government holiday on Thursday, it is left to be seen if Sasikala somehow manages to secure parole.
