Sarabi Nadi Horata Samiti warns of massive protest over sewage discharge into Sarabi River in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: 28 August 2024(Bhatkallys News Bureau) A delegation from the Sarabi Nadi Horata Samiti strongly protested against the ongoing failure of the Underground Drainage (UGD) pumping station on Ghousia Street in Bhatkal, which has resulted in the continuous discharge of sewage into the Sarabi River. The delegation met with Chief Officer Neel Kanth Mesta at the Bhatkal Municipal Office today to express their dissatisfaction with the situation.

The Samiti has issued a 30-day ultimatum, demanding immediate corrective measures. They insisted that an 80 HP motor be installed at the pumping station to address the issue and that all other defects in the system be rectified. 

The delegation warned the Chief Officer that if these demands are not met by the end of September, they will organize a massive protest involving at least a thousand people outside the Assistant Commissioner's office.

Municipal Vice President Altaf Kharuri, Standing Committee Chairman Qaiser Mohtsham, Assistant Municipal Engineer Arvind, and former Environmental Engineer of Bhatkal, Vekantesh Navadu, were present during the meeting. 

Representatives from the Sarabi Nadi Horata Samiti included Anjum Gangawali Nadvi, Mustafa Askari, Imtiaz Udayawar, Taimur Gawai, Nasif Khalifa, Abdul Sami Madikal, and Ashfaq KM.
