Rush at Haj committee office on the last day to submit application.

Bangalore, 25th April 2012: A huge rush of Haj aspirants was see today at the Haj Committee Office at Richmond Road, Bangalore, today being the extended last day to submit the application to apply for Haj through the Govt. quota. A long queue of people from different parts of Karnataka were seen waiting to get the applications verified and submit them.

Mr. Mohammad Gous Pasha, Chairman, KarnatakaState Haj Committee, was away at the Regional Passport Office to guide those who had applied for the passport but had had not yet received the passport.

The collections of the application had started on the 1st of March and on an average 50-60 application were received per day till a few days ago. Yesterday, in spite of being a Govt. holiday and banks not open to pay the fees the Haj committee received more than 150 applications.

Today at around 2.30 pm, more than 450 applications were received. Extra arrangement was made to verify and accept the applications today. The process was expected to go till late in the evening and the numbers of applications were expected to touch 600 - 700.

It is to be noted that the Hajis will be selected on the basis of lots, but such of those above the age of 70 years and who have not yet performed any Haj in their lifetime, will get their chance under reserved category.
