Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat’s demand for an ordinance to enable the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya invited reactions from many political parties across the country. Firebrand Hindu leader Pravin Togadia took a swipe at RSS and questioned why such a law was not enacted in the last four and a half years of BJP rule. He also said that the right-wing Hindutva outfit is raking up the issue as elections are around the corner. Togadia had quit the Vishwa Hindu Parishad earlier this year now heads the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that no one is stopping RSS and their government from making a law for construction of Ram temple. He further added that RSS and the BJP believe in "totalitarianism" and not in the rule of law. Bhagwat had said Ram temple was necessary for "self-esteem" and to usher an "atmosphere of goodwill and oneness" in the country. During the 80-minute speech, Bhagwat also spoke about other issues like "urban maoism" and the need to secure and strengthen the country's borders, PTI reported Nobel Prize winner and social activist Kailash Satyarthi was the chief guest on the occasion. The RSS chief said that sangh has been associated with sentiments of crores of people in the efforts for construction of a magnificent Ram temple at the birthplace of Lord Rama. Bhagwat also added that few elements have a game plan to stall the judgement (of the Supreme Court) by presenting various newer interventions in the judicial process. The Ayodhya case is currently before the Supreme Court and the next hearing is scheduled for October 29. Source: Times Now
