Rs 1000 fine for not wearing seat belts on rear seats in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Oct 20: The state government has taken out an order to impose a fine of Rs 1000 for those who do not wear seat belt. The police department has issued the order based on the instruction of union road and highways ministry.
Till now, Rs 500 fine was imposed to those not wearing seat belt. However, due to the recent increase in the number of accidents, the government took out the new order.
Passengers travelling by vehicles having maximum seating capacity of eight people must wear seat belt mandatorily. Passengers travelling by car and private vehicles also should wear seat belt as per the order.
